Median value of R for most recent week is 0.9282
95% confidence interval 0.9054 - 0.9462 comparing R values for week ending 27 / 3 / 2023 (red) with that a week before (grey) R values are calculated from reported case numbers using methods described in Grant (2020), assuming a COVID generation time of 5 days. This assumes that testing intensity has remained approximately constant over time.

When rates are low and case numbers are small, sampling effects will produce greater variations in estimated R values - this will be responsible for at least part of the wedge shaped distribution of points on the graph.
